More Information
USC joined Kuali in 2007, as a development partner for KFS and a founding member for Kuali Student and Kuali Ready. USC’s resource investments support multiple Kuali projects including KFS, Rice/KEW, and Student. Evaluations of KC continue in 2010.
VivanTech’s relationship with USC began in late 2007. Since that time, USC is among the first institutions to “go-live” with a KFS 3.0 module in production. It is running on MySQL. During the initial phase of their KFS implementation, USC and her implementation partner, VivanTech, developed some custom features and tools. The FFD tool found in KFS 3.0 is a USC contribution to the Kuali Community. The following is a sampling of notes from the project:
- Tools
- Functional Field Definition (FFD)
- Data integration and ETL
- SchemaSpy – Database schema analyzer
- Jasper Reporting Framework
- Features
- Modified data elements and field sizes
- Support single sign-on environment with Shibboleth authentication
- BI component incorporated into KFS project plan
- Many customizations/enhancements such as add/remove fields and adding business rules
- Highlights
- Highly successful phased implementation
- KFS functionality enhanced with KEW (e.g., a gift processing workflow to accompany the Cash Deposits process)
- Generic KEW e-Docs allow departments to create ad hoc internal workflows
- Journal Vouchers and Procurement Card modules in production April 2010
